| Margaret
Mellor
studied drawing and painting at art schools in Bradford and Leeds. She has held
various teaching posts and settled in London with actor-husband (the late James
Mellor) and two sons, Matthew and Ben. She
began to collect the colour supplements of the 'Observer' and the 'Sunday Times'
because of their outstanding photography. She then started to use the images to
make collages. Margaret does not usually start with a subject in mind, but with
an interesting image or colour, then adds other images, often unrelated.
In order to name a piece, Margaret will take two objects from the many which make
up her collages, break up the words which most appropriately describe the images,
and put two parts together to form the title. For example, 'bones' and 'Africa'
became "Bonica". These
works are very high quality photographic reproductions, mounted on acid free board. |
